Well,
Gingerbread finally made it’s way to my Motorola Milestone 😀
Credits go to nadlabak 🙂
NOTE: I’m not responsible for your actions. Installing Custom ROMs can brick your phone so be sure you know what you are doing!
Go grab your update on the projects’s google code page 🙂
When you are coming from CM6 or any other froyo (2.2) mods the update process is simple:
- Download the CM7 update.zip http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod4milestone/downloads/detail?name=update-cm-7.0.0-RC0-0.07-11.02.03-Milestone-signed.zip
- Download the gapps update for CM7 http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version#Google_Apps
- Boot to OpenRecovery http://code.google.com/p/androidiani-openrecovery/downloads/detail?name=OpenRecovery-3_3.zip
- Make a full nandroid backup
- Perform all three wipes (cache, davlik cache, data)
- Apply CM7 update
- Apply gapps update
- Reboot and be happy 🙂
NOTE: when i installed CM7 there was no GoogleMail app. So i just installed „MarketEnabler“ from the market and changed my phone temporary to US (T-Mobile) and installed the GoogleMail app from the market the normal way. Works like a charm 🙂
And now, have fun with CM7 🙂
I’m looking forward to the next updates 🙂
Greets, Goddchen

The GMail trick is a very good hint. Thank you very much.
CM7 runs very well with this trick, but I still have to fix the „Home button do not work“ bug. Any ideas ? 😛
I should have google it a bit more. After flashing CM7 and GApps redo step 5. After reflashing I have performed all three wipes again and it works 🙂
Worked great! Nice little tutorial.
Do you know how I can tell what baseband I should use? I got this phone from eBay and am not sure where the original owner got the phone from.
Everything works fine for me but i’ve got the home button bug too and i found a soulution http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/19605-home-button-issues-striking-back/ ………
and here is my problem: My Marked doesn’t work…when i click on the icon it start and then at the same moment it close……mmhhhh…can someone help me…
thanks for posting that solution 🙂
With the market: i’d fire up LogCat an see what error is occuring when starting the market…
no problem…and if you find a solution for my prob i would be very thankful….because i have googled so often and i’ve found no solution if you find a way to fix what would be gread .,…and if i find a solution i post it here…=D
The current Gapps wouldn’t install for me.
I got the gapps-gb.zip from Feb 2011 from http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/ and that one installed fine.
Thanks for the links and hint to the MarketEnabler. But… you don’t need this workaround – get the gmail.apk at http://www.pocketpc.ch/htc-hd2-android/124462-neuste-gmail-app-geaendertem-icon-gross-normal.html
Works perfectly on my RC7.
ur hint about MarketEnabler is what i was searching for
Thanks man ,
Von diesem Gingerbread habe ich noch nie gehört!
